First Organized San Francisco Fire Companies

Empire Engine Company, dates its regular existence from June 4, 1850.

Monumental Engine Companies Nos. 6 and 7, June 1850.

Howard Engine Company, June 14, 1850.

St. Francis Hook and Ladder Company No. 1, June 14, 1850.

Sansome Hook and Ladder Company, June 14, 1850.

California Engine Company No. 4, October 10, 1850.

Knickerbocker Engine Company No. 5, October 17, 1850.

Vigilant Engine Company, April 8, 1852.

Crescent Engine Company, November 4, 1852.

Columbian Engine Company, November 4, 1852.

Pennsylvania Engine Company, November 5, 1852.

Pacific Engine Company, September 9, 1853.

La Fayette Hook and Ladder Company, September 19, 1853.

Manhattan Engine Company, January 1854.

Young America Engine Company, January 1854.
